Are they yours? Police seek to trace owners of power tools stolen from Harlow and Epping Police are trying to trace the owners of a large number of power tools which they believe were stolen from the Harlow and Epping areas. Officers from the Essex and Thames Valley forces located a large amount of tools and plant equipment stored in shipping containers in Slough. "At the start of this year it was identified that there had been a significant number of thefts of power tools from vans in Essex, particularly in the Harlow and Epping Forest areas," said Detective Constable Clive Singer of West Proactive CID. "We are still in the process of tracing the owners of these items and have so far identified owners from five counties including Essex." A 21-year-old man from London was arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of theft from a vehicle in Harlow on January 19 and released on police bail until August 19, pending further enquiries. Pictures of all the recovered tools can be viewed at flickr.com/essexpoliceuk. Anyone who believes they own any of them is asked to call DC Singer at Epping CID on 101 or email Clive.Singer@essex.pnn.police.uk. Police have issued a reminder to people not to leave valuable tools or equipment in their work vehicles overnight. If this is unavoidable, they are advised to fit secondary security locks and alarms.
