Prisoners used power tools to esape maximum security
LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — A national manhunt has a Las Vegas man asking the same question everyone has: was this an inside job?
Jeremy Getman served time inside the Clinton prison in New York State and marvels at the prison break that has an army of police looking for a cop killer and another man who murdered someone and dismembered the body in the 1990s.
The men sawed their way through steel walls and pipes and crawled out a six-story catwalk to enter pipes that eventually led to a manhole cover in a quiet neighborhood.
Getman told News 3 the men may have had an inside source to help them get power tools to saw through steel walls.
“It was surprising to me that they got out given the remote location of the prison, how old it is, how long it has been there,” Getman said.
Pisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt remain on the loose while nearly 300 searchers use bloodhounds and helicopters. So far, it looks like prisoners escaped in to thin air.
